BMP’s IN SERIES :

A. Utilize the following calculation method for determining the effect of the “series” configuration on pollutant removal:

Text Box: •	If the upstream BMP measure has a pollutant removal efficiency equal to or greater than 65%, the pollutant removal efficiency applied to its effluent pollutant load shall be 50% of normal efficiency of the downstream BMP.     •	If the upstream BMP measure has a pollutant removal efficiency less than 65%, the pollutant removal rate efficiency applied to its effluent pollutant load shall be 75% of the normal efficiency of the downstream BMP.    •	The equation representing these relationship(s) becomes:    PR = Pollutant load reduction;   L = Pollutant Load to a BMP;   Eff. = pollutant removal efficiency    PR1 = Pollutant load reduction for upstream BMP = L1 (Eff1)      PR2 = Pollutant load reduction for downstream BMP = (L1 x (1-Eff1)) x (Eff2 x (0.5 or 0.75)        Total PR = Total Load Reduction for 2 BMP’s in series =    L1 (Eff1) + (L1 x (1-Eff1)) x (Eff2 x (0.5 or 0.75)
